Modulating surface defects of plasmonic Au/ZnOnanocomposite for efficient photocatalytic H2 production |

Herein, size-controlled Au nanoparticles (NPs) are deposited on thesurface of ZnO particles (a ZIF-8 derivative) using a photo-deposition process.In-situ photo-deposition process, the surface defects on ZnO particles areelectronically filled that formed during the decomposition of ZIF-8 and grownthe Au nanoparticles on it. This alters the surface chemical environment of Au-coatedZnO nanoparticles and this nano-heterojunction formation. The optimized Au NPson a ZnO photocatalyst have 19.45 times better H2 productionactivity than pristine ZnO due to the formation of an interface between the AuNPs and ZnO that prevents the recombination rate of photogenerated chargecarriers and minimizes charge transfer resistance. |
