Fabrication of Gelatin Nanofiber Patches with Different Crosslinking Extent for Cartilage Tissue Engineering |

Recently, nanofibers have been investigated as a pragmatic candidate for a matrix delivering cells and growth factors in tissue engineering. In this study we were interested in the fabrication of gelatin nanofiber patches with different properties for cartilage defects. Different electrospinning conditions have been explored to develop the easy way of method to maintain the structure of gelatin nanofiber patches in water and control the extent of crosslinking of gelatin nanofiber patches. It was confirmed that structure and porosity of nanofiber patches maintained after the process with AFM analysis and that the extent of crosslinking varied depending on crosslinking conditions. Degradation of gelatin nanofiber patches were also examined in PBS with and without enzyme for 4 weeks. In addition, the delivery of TGF- β1 (transforming growth factor-β1) from patches with different crosslinking extent was examined after they were loaded with TGF-β1. |
