Nanomaterials which have excellent properties such as electroluminescene and photoluminescence are usually suffered from degradation induced by oxygen, UV, moisture, and heat. Various encapsulation techniques have been developed for applications. Especially nanomaterials that are vulnerable to humidity need moisture barrier. Polyethylene shows excellent humidity barrier properties because it is highly crystalline and hydrophobic materials without tacticity. Here we developed novel technique forming self-assembled microcapsules, protecting them from moisture. Furthermore, in order to enhance thermal stability, the microcapsules are decorated with inorganic layer on its surface from sol-gel process. The morphology of the self-assembled microcapsules will be analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and TEM and thermal stability will also be presented. |
