Microstructure Properties of thermally oxidized Ti-15Mo alloy in various temperatures and durations of time for dental implant applications |
초록 |
The mechanical properties of thermally oxidized Ti-15Mo alloy has not been studied earlier and it is reported for the first time in this study. Objective: The aim of present study was to evaluate the thermal oxidation behabiour of Ti-15Mo alloy at different temperatures, namely, 500, 650 and 800oC and for various durations of time, as follows, 8, 16, 24 and 48h. Methods: the microstructure of Ti-15Mo alloy with and without thermal oxidation treatment were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Results: The surface morphology of thermal oxidized Ti-15Mo alloy at 650oC reveals the presence of oxide scales throughout the surface without spallation, irrespective of the treatment time. Samples oxidized for 48 h lead to the formation of oxide grains along a thick oxide film. Samples oxidized for 24 h lead to the formation of oxide grains with thinner oxide layer. The thickness, morphological features and phase constituents of the oxide film formed during thermal oxidation exhibit a strong dependence on the treatment time.
