Sythesis of Novel Carbazole Phenoxy-Based Polyurethane for High Refractive Index Material |

In this study, incorporation of carbazole group and phenoxy group was used to prepare a novel polymer which has high-refractive index. Firstly, the phenoxy-based carbazole derivate (PC), which was produced by reaction between 9-(2-Oxiranylmethyl)-9H-carbazole and bisphenol AP, was combined with isophorone diisocyanate in the presence of dibutyltin dilaurate as the catalyst in subsequent step-growth polymerization, and obtained product was a prepolymer. Finally, the chain extension of this prepolymer arisen from adding bis-(2-hydroxylethyl) disulfide. The gained polyurethane (PU) was precipitated from acetone solvent with yield of 70%. This PU was characterized for molecular weight by using GPC; for chemical structure by 1H-NMR spectroscopy; for functional group by FTIR; for melting point and glass transition temperature by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), for decomposition by using thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). |
