High Performance Circularly Polarized Light Detector Using Hydrazine Doped Chiral n-Channel Single Crystal |

Circularly polarized light (CPL) is of great significance to various photonic technologies, including optical communication, quantum computation, and 3D displays. Supramolecular chirality has the potential to be used as a useful way to emit or detect CPL due to its property of chirality amplification. Here, novel chiral perylene diimides are synthesized and self-assembled into single crystals using a solvent-diffusion method. Phototransistors based on an individual single crystal showed a high mobility of 0.25 cm2 V–1s–1, a large photoresponsivity of 187 A W–1, and a detectivity of 1.3 × 1015. Furthermore, their optoelectronic performances were sharply increased after the devices were doped by saturated hydrazine vapor for 5 minutes. Finally, the doped crystals based phototransistor exhibited clear CPL detection with high dissymmetry factor around 0.12. These results pave the way for the miniature and integrated CPL detectors via self-assembled chiral organic semiconductors. |
