Fabrication and characterization of aligned Gelatin/HAp composites scaffolds for bone tissue engineering |

Recently, the electrospinning technique has been used to fabricate fibrous mat for biomedical applications such as artificial blood vessel, drug release and tissue engineering scaffolds etc. because this method is simple and easy to get ultrafine polymer fibers. Depending on the speed of rotating drum collector, fiber alignment was different. In this work, Gelatin fibers were aligned by electrospinnning machine. For inducing bone regeneration, HAp nanopowders were loaded in the gelatin fibers with different content variation. The mechanical properties like tensile strength of the Gelatin/HAp composites scaffolds were evaluated. Microstructure and morphological evaluation were carried out by SEM technique. Phase characterization was performed by XRD and FT-IR. Detailed bio-compatibility of the material system and the influence of the structural feature on cell proliferation were evaluated MG- 63 osteoblasts like cell culture on the fabricated material. |
