Improvement of Mechanical Properties of Calcium Phosphate-Calcium Sulfate Injectable Bone Substitute Using microwave sintered TTCP powder |

In this study, citric acid, chitosan, and hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) were used as the liquid phase and tetra calcium phosphate (TTCP), dicalcium phosphate dehydrate (DCPD) and calcium sulfate dehydrate (CSD, CaSO4 . 2H2O) powders as the solid phase. The conversional synthesis method of TTCP used furnace heating of DCPD and CSD on solid phase. In this work, microwave irradiated to synthesis the powders and the differences were invastigated. There were following three groups. Each group was holding the percentage of chitosan and citric acid (chitosan 2%, citric acid 20%). Only the HPMC percentage was changed to 2 wt%, 3 wt% and 4 wt%. Setting time was measured depending on HPMC Percentage. IBS was incubated at 37℃ in 100% humidity prior to characterization. Material properties like compressive strength and porosity were investigated. Microstructure and morphology were investigated by SEM & XRD. Bio-compatibility was investigated by MTT assay and One-cell morphology. |
