Friedel-Crafts acylation of aromatic compounds is an important reaction in the production of aromatic ketones largely used as intermediates in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, dyes, fragrances and agrochemicals. The acylated aromatics are traditionally prepared by the acylation of aromatics with acid chlorides using Lewis acids such as AlCl3, and BF3. These Lewis acids generates large amount of hazardous, corrosive, and environmentally unfriendly waste. The reaction of anisole with acetic anhydride is carried out in the batch mode with different ratio of Al/Si of ZSM-11. Synthesized zeolites were characterized with XRD, BET, EDX, FT-IR, Pyridine-TPD, UV-Vis. |
