제목 Stabilizing zinc metal anodes by building a hydrophilic artificial solid electrolyte interphase
초록 Chronic problems such as formation of zinc dendrite and parasitic side reactions are major obstacles for commercialization of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs). In this work, we firstly report effective stabilization strategy to stabilize Zn anodes from the chronic problems and, more importantly, be applicable to enlarged Zn anodes. Building an artificial solid electrolyte on the surface of Zn anodes via straightforward dip coating method allows highly reduced low nucleation overpotential for even distribution of Zn nucleation instead of keen dendrite formation. More importantly, the scalability of our approach was also demonstrated by achieving stable full cell operations of the large sized Zn anodes. Our findings shed light on not only addressing major hurdles for implementing ZIBs as large-scale electrochemical energy storages but also can be extended to the other battery chemistries employing Zn.
