CO2 adsorption using porous solid materials has been regarded as effective in CO2 capture and further utilization. Motivated by this, we examined the CO2 trapping under an ambient condition containing a realistic level of CO2 (400 ppm) in He balance and the desorption behavior at elevated temperatures using zeolites of which systematic variations of the Si/Al ratio and the channel framework (BEA. MFI, CHA, MOR and FAU). We also dramatically improved CO2 trapping performance by exchanging alkali metal ions (Na+) into the zeolites. At this KIChE spring conference, this work will present the overall performance of the CO2 adsorption and desorption with packed bed reactor data and surface/chemical analysis of zeolite-based trapping materials. |
