제목 Comparison of Dynamic Adsorption Behaviors between Equilibrium and Kinetic Separation Beds for H2 Pressure Swing Adsorption
초록 Hydrogen is considered as one of the most important energy carriers for the future, not only as a raw chemical material but also as a clean energy source. The PSA process is widely viewed as a promising way to recover H2 from various effluent gases because of its high efficiency. Impurities from different crude H2 streams can be removed by the equilibrium or kinetic selective adsorption of impurities on porous adsorbents such as carbon molecular sieve and activated carbons. In this study, adsorption equilibria and kinetics of CO2, CO and N2, which are main components in H2 effluent gases, on carbon molecular sieve (CMS) and activated carbon (AC) were measured. The experimental adsorption isotherms were correlated with various isotherm models and the experimental uptake curves were fitted with isothermal or non-isothermal diffusion models to elucidate the heat effect on adsorption rate. Finally, adsorption breakthrough experiments packed with CMS or AC were conducted to investigate the adsorption dynamic behaviors. The results could contribute to designing pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process efficiently to produce H2 from various mixtures.
