The monitoring systems of VOCs have been already introduced and developed in many countries of the world. The adsorption isotherms of VOCs on poly(isobutylene) (PIB), polystyrene, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), and polyvinylalchol (PVA) are measuredusing a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) at various system temperatures. The frequency variation is measured and compared with the results of microscopic observations. Using the adsorption and desorption responses, the reproducibility and sensitivity of the QCM-based sensor system are explained. The overall results show the possibility for commercial applicability of the polymer coated QCM sensor system prepared in this work. |
