Facile surface modification of ion-exchange membranes for efficient electro-membrane processes |

In this work, we have investigated the facile surface modification of ion-exchange membranes (IEMs) for successful application to promising electro-membrane processes. Simple surface modifications were conducted with various organic/inorganic composites, such as polypyrrole and reduced graphene. The results revealed that the membrane surface properties are effectively controlled by introducing the surface layer and can determine the selective transport of specific ion species. The surface-modified IEMs have also been applied to several electro-membrane processes, such as water-splitting electrodialysis and all-vanadium redox flow battery. The detailed results will be presented at the conference.
