Incorporation of nanoparticles into a polymer matrix allows better mechanical strength, conductivity, catalytic activity, and optical and magnetic properties. Block copolymers may provide an effective means for controlling particle location, and these composites could be employed for photonic band gap materials, catalysts, plasmonic waveguide materials, and storage media. We prepared symmetric PS-b-PnPMA/gold nanoparticles composite where gold nanoparticles were incorporated in PS microdomain of the block copolymer. To confirm the selectivity of gold nanoparticles, we observed the inner structure by TEM. Since PS-b-PnPMA film is easily processed at room temperature because of its baroplastic property that enables processing at a relatively lower pressure and temperature by microphase transition, the location of gold nanoparticles is also changed by microphase transition. We investigated the effect of pressure on the morphology of PS-b-PnPMA and the gold nanoparticles locations. |
