For developing practical SERS sensors, the robust and facile fabrication strategies for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active substrates are important. Several approaches to creating dielectro-metallic nanostructures have been developed for the SERS application, including the fabrication of metal-shell nanoparticles and bimetallic nanowires. For the practical SERS application, the individual plasmonic nanostructures are required to integrate as one- or two dimensional arrays with highly periodicity and uniformity. However, most attempts recently made have focused on fabricating dielectric-core metal-shell particles due to their significant enhancement in detection abilities. Here, we report a novel SERS platform composed of periodic bimetallic patterns with dielectric gaps. The fabrication strategy employing polymeric patterns will provide reliable reproducibility and good sensitivity for SERS based detection of DNA hybridization. |
