Recently, renewable raw materials can be exploited for the production of bio-based polyol from vegetable oils. Their biodegradability, renewability and low prices have a market value in comparison with petroleum-based polyol. Cardanol derived from cashew net shell liquid oil(CNSL) is renewable resource which has a reactive aliphatic double bond and phenolic compound that could be preparation novel functional materials for versatile polymer. In this study, cardanol-based polyol was synthesized using 1,4 dibromobutane for intermediate, followed by chemical modification with diethanolamine. The molecular structure of cardanol based polyol was characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, FTIR and GPC. The hydroxyl value of cardanol-based polyol was determined by ASTM D1957-86 using a anhydride and pyridine method. Polyurethane were manufactured from cardanol based polyol and diisocyanate with dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as a catalyst. The detailed results will be presented in conference. |
