Effect of the substitution of K2O for Na2O on the bioactivity of CaO-Na2O-SiO2-P2O5 glasses |

To study compositional dependence of bioactivity, thermal property, atomic structure and surface morphology have been investigated in the CaO-Na2O-SiO2 –P2O5 system which are known as bio-glass. The compositional influence on bioactivity of was investigated in previous study. However, the mixed-alkali effect of bioactivity has not been reported yet. The density and the molar volume was measured to expect the structural packing. The variation of thermal property of the investigated glass was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA). The FT-IR spectra was used to confirm the structure of these glasses. The morphology was examined using scanning electron microscope(SEM) and the formation of Ca-P layer was studied by means of energy dispersive system (EDS). On the result of this study, the tendency to form a calcium phosphate layer is increased the greater amount of potassium ion. |
