We investigated the filtration characteristics of the membrane by packing a waste lime support carrier in to the MBR process to improve the removal efficiency of phosphorous which is one of the nutrients that cause eutrophication and to minimize membrane fouling. Also, filtration performances of the membrane according to changes in air flow and support carrier volume fraction in the membrane coupled fixed phase biofilm reactor (M-CFPBR) process is compared. This result suggests that active air circulation between packed support carriers within a reactor is needed to mitigate membrane fouling and increase membrane filtration time. |
