Polyurethane is widely used in industrial fields due to excellent mechanical properties and abrasion resistance. However, as increasing the regulation on use of petroleum resources, the researches on synthesis of polyurethane using bio-based resources have been attracted. Among bio-based resources, cardanol is a natural oil extracted from cashew nut shells. In addition, biopolyols is expected to have antibacterial properties. Accordingly, biopolyol based on cardanol was synthesized and characterized by H-NMR and FT-IR. Polyurethane film was then fabricated via the reaction of biopolyol and hexamethylene diisocyanate and confirmed using FT-IR. Thermal stability and mechanical strength were performed by TGA and UTM, respectively, and antibacterial properties were measured using the shaking method. |
