Toxic organic compounds (TOC) such as endocrine disrupting chemicals and chlorinated compounds become serious problem threatening human health and ecosystem integrity. Simple and effective methods are presented here to prepare nanocarrier-functionalized adsorbents by introduction of β-cyclodextrin onto magnetite (CD-MG) for the removal of TOC in contaminated water. The properties of CD-MG were characterized via FT-IR, XPS, WXRD, FE–SEM, HR-TEM. Their magnetic properties were also evaluated by VSM. The adsorption capacities of CD-MG toward TOC were measured by GC-MS. Especially, CD-MG have a characteristic of super-paramagnetism resulting in facile removal from water under a relatively low external magnetic field. These results suggest that CD-MG have a great potential for efficiently separable adsorbent with high efficiency for removal of TOC in contaminated water. |
