제목 | Investigation of electrodeposited rhenium-cobalt catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction |
초록 | As environmental pollution becomes an issue, hydrogen is considered as a promising candidate for energy source. Water electrolysis can produce high-purity hydrogen without carbon emission when it connected with renewable energy. Water electrolysis include hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). For HER, platinum showed the highest activity due to its proper hydrogen binding energy. On the other hand, rhenium displays a comparable hydrogen binding energy to that of Pt. In this study, rhenium-cobalt alloy was directly electrodeposited on carbon paper. The Re content and loading amount can be controlled by varying the electrodeposition condition. The rhenium-cobalt alloy catalyst showed higher HER activity than rhenium oxide, which was electrodeposited without cobalt precursor. Finally, the activation energy (Ea) for acidic HER was obtained by Arrhenius plot. Compared to rhenium oxide, rhenium-cobalt demonstrated the lower Ea of 8.99 kJ mol–1 K–1. |
