Suspensions of Pt/C catalyst nanoparticles in nafion solution have been deposited to gas diffusion layer (GDL) by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD). The membrane electrode assembly (MEA) prepared by ESD showed higher cell performance than the one prepared by other methods like spraying or brushing. It was attributed that the MEA prepared by ESD showed both morphological and structural improvements. It was optimized by flow rate, voltage, substrate temperature, distance from nozzle to substrate, etc. And the electrodes optimized by ESD was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). In this paper, the solvent effects were investigated by means of colloidal ink that has different dielectric constant value compared to solution ink. |
