A rapid and sensitive voltammetric method for the quantitative determination of clenbuterol (CLB) based on a simply pretreated glassy carbon electrode (GCE) has been developed. We report the simple cyclic voltammetry method for electrochemically activated glassy carbon electrode by 0.5 M H2SO4 solution at +2.0 V for 2 min. The easy electrochemical activation method of GCE shows to obvious catalytic property to CLB. The electrochemical properties were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Using differential pulse, the linear response range for the clenbuterol was between 1×10-7 and 2×10-5 M, and the detection limit was 6×10-9 M (S/N=3). The present study shows that voltammetry with an electrochemically activated glassy carbon electrode a powerful technique for the determination of clenbuterol in low concentration. |
