제목 | Thermomechanical Properties of the Three Kinds of Surface-modified Polyethylens with MMA/DMPT Impregnated PMMA Bone Cements |
초록 | Three kinds of polyethylenes (PEs), including 20H (200,000 g/mole of HDPE powder) 380U (3,800,000 g/mole of UHMWPE powder), and 800U (8,000,000 g/mole of UHMWPE powder) with MMA/N, N-dimethyl-p-toluidine (DMPT) solution were impregnated into conventional PMMA bone cement for the improvement of the poor mechanical and thermal properties. As shown in Fig. 1, it could be confirmed that the tensile strengths (43.3 MPa ~ 53.3 MPa) of 3 wt % of the surface-modified 20H, 380U, and 800U impregnated PMMA bone cements were similar or higher than that (44.5 MPa) of conventional PMMA bone cement, also, the polymerization temperatures of the new fabricated PMMA bone cements decreased from 103 °C to 82 °C ~ 60 °C. It could be confirmed how to link between the surface-modified 20H, 380U, and 800U with MMA/DMPT solution through FTIR-ATR analysis from Fig. 2. From this result, it could be supposed that mechanical interlocking was mainly generated and chemical bonding was partially produced between the surface-modified 20H, 380U, and 800U and PMMA bone cement.
