Biodisc Regeneration using Purified Alginate Microcapsulescontaining Human Disc Cells |

Tissue engineering has the possible to improve upon current techniques for intervertebral disc repair. In this study, purified alginate microcapsules were used in intervertebral disc regeneration. The alginate as a natural polymer that is extracted from seaweeds and purification. Purified alginate microcapsules is fabricated by seed human disc cell into microcapsules. After 1, 3, 7 and 14 day of cell seeding, cell viability activity was measured via MTT assay. Morphological observation, histology, biological assay and PCR were performed. In result, the cell viability were better purified alginate microcapsules than non-purified alginate microcapsules. When we cultured disc cell of human in vitro, we observed better to keep the characteristic of cell in the purified alginate microcapsules. This study suggests that purified alginate microcapsules may serve as a potential cell delivery vehicle. This research was supported by WCU (R31-20029) and XRC (A040004) |
