The attachment of marine organisms on ship has been pointed out for fuel loss. Due to attached organisms, the surface of the ship becomes rough, resulting in a speed decrease and economic loss. So the development of anti-fouling paint applied to ship is active. In this study, poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate which has a structure of poly(ethylene glycol) used for drag reduction in pipelines and silyl acrylate were used as monomers to synthesize SPC resins. And, anti-fouling paints were mixed based on the resin and compared with commercial paints to verify the frictional drag reduction effect. The structure of the resin was analyzed using FT-IR and the drag reduction performance of paints was measured by dynamometer.
