Synthesis of PMMA-b-PLLA block copolymer via ATRP and Ring-Opening Polymerization by HPBMP dual initiator |

Well-defined poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(L-lactide) block copolymers were successfully prepared via ATRP and ROP using 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenyl 2bromo-2methyl propanoate HPBMP dual initiator. Well-defined poly(methyl methacrylate) (HO-PMMA-Br) is synthesized by ATRP in anisol at 90 oC using HPBMP as initiator and copper (I) chloride (CuCl) with N,N,N,N,N-pentamethyl-diethylenetriamine (PMDETA) used as the catalyst. (PLLA-b-PMMA) block copolymers are synthesized via ROP polymerization in DCM (Dichloromethane) at 35 oC using HO-PMMA-Br as macroinitiator and and 1,8-Diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene [DBU] as catalyst. Synthesized PMMA-b-PLLA block copolymers were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy and GPC. The extensive results 2–15 ×104 g/mol molecular weights with 1.05-1.16 PDI of diblock copolymers from GPC, and 1H-NMR are obtained with different molecular composition by changing the molar ratio of monomer/initiator. |
