As a potential energy technology for portable and home applications, direct methanol fuel cells have received much attention. The main routes for the synthesis of nanocluster electrocatalysts can be grouped into a chemical methods and electrochemical methods. It has been reported that an effective dispersion of catalyst particles causes a decrease in surface poisoning. Different substrates have been tried for the dispersion of catalyst particles with the aim of improving the efficiency of methanol electro-oxidation. Conducting polymers could be functioned as the suitable host matrices for dispersing metallic particles. In this study, electrical-conducting polyaniline was selected as catalyst support to overcome the low electronic conductivity problem, and their composites with Pt-Ru particles were examined to evaluate their use to improve the interfacial properties between metal electrode and polymer electrolyte in DMFCs anode. |
