Polyurethane elastomers (PUEs) have been known as electrostrictive material. When voltage is applied to the electrodes, the PUEs films expand in area and compress in thickness. In order to investigate an effect of PUEs' components, trimethylol propane (TMP) as crosslinking agent was controlled by 0.5wt% and 1wt%. Dimethylol butanoic acid (DMBA) and 1,4-butanediol were used as chain extender. The variations of displacement, recovery time and permanent deformation according to the hard content of PUEs were measured. PUEs samples with 1wt% crosslinking agent contents had higher displacement and lower recovery time than PUEs samples with 0.5wt% crosslinking agent contents. As the hard content increased, the actuating voltage for generating of same displacement increased. And also, actuations of crosslinked PUEs and linear PUEs with the higher hard content exhibited similar behavior. |
