The excellent ability of carbon nanotube is recently appearing from a number of research activieis. But the lack of uniform dispersion in host materials is still the point of studies. The polymer nanocomposites filled with carbon nanotube also have the same problem. Recently, we have found that the carbon nanotube-containing composite can be readily achieved by a simple emulsion aggregation method, where positively surface-treated carbon nanotube is interacted with negatively charged polymer latex prepared by a conventional emulsion polymerization. Herein, we have investigated the effect of various flocculants including NaCl, MgCl2, and polyalumunium chloride (PAC). It was found that the ionic strength of the electrolytes strongly influences the aggregation between carbon nanotube and polymer latex. |
