제목 Study on the direct synthesis of tetraalkoxysilane
초록 The synthesis of tetraalkoxysilane, known as the precursor of silica, has been studied at various reaction conditions: mole ratio of Si metal and alcohol (such as methanol and ethanol), temperature, and time in the presence of alkali metal catalyst. The yield of tetraalkoxysilane was affected on temperature, alcohol feeding speed, ratio of alcohol to Si, retention time of alcohol, and the kind of alkali metal as a catalyt. In this study, the mole ratio of alkali metal and ether solvent was varied at the range of 0.5~0.9: 1 and the reaction temperature range from 160℃ to 190℃. In this reaction, hydrogen gas, which indicates the progress of the reaction, was generated. tetraalkoxysilane was obtained in relatively higher yield using Si metal reduced at 350℃ for 3 h under the stream of H2 gas.
