Fluorination effect of activated carbons as electrode materials on asymmetric capacitive deionization |
초록 |
Activated carbons (ACs) have been fluorinated and prepared to electrode to identify desalination performance according to the sign of fluorinated AC electrode (ACF) using asymmetric capacitive deionization (CDI) cells. Changes in pore structure and surface functional groups of ACs after fluorination were measured using an ASAP 2020 and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), respectively. The desalination performance of asymmetric CDI cells assembled with an untreated AC electrode (ACR) as the counter electrode and an ACF as the cathode (R/F-) or anode (R/F+) was studied at 1 V. For R/F-, the salt adsorption capacity and charge efficiency increased from 10.1 mg/g and 0.56 to 12.5 mg/g and 0.73, respectively, compared with the CDI cell assembled with identical R-AC electrodes. It is attributed that ACF has a cation attractive effect originating from the partially negatively charged fluorine functional groups on the AC surface. |
