Metal-Semiconductor Hybrid SERS System toward Label-free Ultrasensitive Detection |

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) especially based on noble metals has facilitated effortless and effective trace-amount molecule detection via electromagnetic enhancements at so-called hot-spots predominantly. However, diverse analytes possess limited cross-section for Raman detection and this forces to adopt Raman reporter of particular surface functionalization that is laborious and limited to solely analytes small in size. In this work, we fabricated a hybrid SERS structure that exploits Ag as a plasmonic structure and GaN as centers of charge transfer enhancement to solve these issues. By highly uniform printing of Ag nanowires onto GaN nanopillars, ultrasensitive SERS substrate with exceptional conformity could be fabricated successfully. Consequently, an excellent SERS performance was derived with an average enhancement factor of 1.4 × 1011 at 10 fM of Rhodamine 6G. In addition, quantification and multiplexing ability without treatments on the surface are verified via detection of detrimental antibiotics in aqueous solutions. Therefore, achieving remarkably high sensitivity was feasible exploiting synergistic enhancement of metal-semiconductor complex SERS system. |
