제목 Pervaporation performance of dopamine coated HNT/PVA/PVAm mixed matrix embranes for IPA dehydration
초록 Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is a commonly used chemical reagent due to its relatively high volatility and low toxicity. The IPA manufacturing process inherently requires the separation of IPA from water. However, IPA forms an azeotropic point with water at 87.4 wt% IPA and 80℃. A recovery of high purity IPA from the obtained azeotropic mixture is necessary to reduce production coast but it is difficult by only distillation process. Therefore, pervaporation dehydration of IPA containing binary feed mixture were studied using the dopamine coated HNT embedded PVA/PVAm membrane. The dopamine coating of HNT surface was performed aim to generate the hydrophilic moieties on the HNT surface and TEM, XPS analysis was used to confirmed the successful generation PDA coating on HNT surface. The pervaporation dehydration characteristics for azeotropic mixture of (80/20, 85/15, 90/10 IPA/water w/w,) at 40 °C, membrane was tested.
