Hexafluoropropyleneoxide (HFPO) is a valuable raw material for the synthesis of fluoro compounds and polymers, which can be widely used because of its chemical properties and thermal stability. One of the most feasible method for the synthesis of HFPO is the epoxidation of Hexafluoropropylene (HFP) using oxidants in the presence of CClF2CFCl2 (CFC-113) as a solvent. However, CFC-113 has been prohibited to produce and use due to its high global warming potential(GWP). In this study, we utilized novel fluorinated solvents of FS-1, FS-2 for the epoxidation of HFP, which have insignificant value of GWP. Using FS-2, HFP was converted into HFPO with 30% yield at room temperature in 30 min reaction with NaOCl. The reaction time and temperature for epoxidation were optimized. |
