Instead of I-/I3--based volatile liquid electrolyte, imidazolium halides such as 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide (MPII), 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium bromide (MPIBr) and 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium chloride (MPICl) were applied as a non-volatile hole transporting material in combination with a metal complex to fabricate organic-solvent-free hybrid solar cells (HSCs). A MPII-based HSC showed a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.82%, resulting from 19.15 mA/cm2 of the short-circuit current (Jsc), 0.614 V of the open-circuit voltage (Voc) and 49.45 % of fill factor (FF). On the other hand, the PCEs of MPICl- and MPIBr-based HSCs were sharply decreased to 0.64% (Jsc = 2.77 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.678 V and FF = 34.10 %) and 0.05% (Jsc = 0.33 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.574 V and FF = 32.20 %), respectively, due to a significant drop in both Jsc and FF. |
