Shape, color-switchable block copolymer microparticles for hydrogel display application |
초록 |
We developed light-responsive block copolymer (BCP) particles, whose shape can be reversibly controlled. The surfactants having light-active groups were designed, which can reversibly modulate the interfacial activity to form shape changeable PS-b-P4VP microparticles. The designed surfactant, Spiropyran-DTAB can tune its amphiphilicity by wavelength-controlled light irradiation. Sphere particles with onion-like inner morphology and ellipsoidal particles with axially stacked lamellar domain structures are formed by exposing UV and visible light, respectively. In addition, the reversible, light-responsive particle shape transformation was successfully demonstrated 10 times by chloroform vapor annealing. Finally, the shape- and color-switchable BCP particles are integrated to form a composite hydrogel, demonstrating their potential as high-resolution displays with reversible patterning capabilities. |
