Influence of different g-C3N4 hydrothermal synthesis conditions on photocatalytic tetracycline degradation under visible light |

In this work, metal-free graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) photocatalysts used for the hydrothermal process at different temperatures (180, 200, and 220°C) were synthesized in different atmospheric conditions (air and nitrogen). To evaluate the impact of g-C3N4 hydrothermal synthesis conditions, characterization techniques were used to examine the photocatalysts and photodegradation of tetracycline over the modified g-C3N4 under visible light was investigated. Compared to the bulk g-C3N4 and AT-x the as-prepared samples NT-x possessed a higher specific surface area, increased bandgap value, and significantly improved photogenerated electron-hole separation. As a result, NT-x exceeded bulk g-C3N4 and AT-x in terms of absorption and photocatalytic activity for tetracycline degradation. However, the increase of hydrothermal temperatures also demonstrated the appearance of the breakdown of nanosheets to tri-s-triazine units, which enhanced the absorption capacity but negatively affected the recombination rate of as-prepared samples. |
