제목 | Stacked Ionic Polymer-Metal Composites(IPMC) with improved bending force |
초록 | Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite(IPMC) is an electroactive actuator which has large deformation in the presence of low applied voltage. A typical IPMC consists of a thin(200μm) polymer membrane with metal electrodes(5~10μm thick) plated on both faces. In spite of its large deformation, there have been some limits to generate large bending force due to its thin thickness. Although IPMC employing thick membrane has large bending force, the deformation is reduced for the stiffness of thick membrane. On purpose to improve both bending force and deformation, two types of stacked–IPMCs were prepared. The first type was stacked with the same IPMC of which membrane had cations as mobile ions, which needed insulating layer between two IPMCs. The other type was stacked with two different IPMC, the one employed cation-type membrane and the other employed anion-type membrane, in order to do without insulating layer. The acuation properties and the bending force of the prepared IPMCs were measured with laser displacement meter and load cell. Because the insulating layer being used in the first type IPMC acted as a resistance, the stack of the same IPMC actuated worse than the other one. But the second type being stacked with two different IPMC showed improvement in the bending force without decline of deformation. Fig. 1. actuation test |
