Preparation of silver nanomaterials using soluble silver containing polymers by electron beam irradiation |

Silver nanomaterials have been studied due to their application potentials in catalysis, antimicrobial materials, and as the substrates for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). It is important to develop an effective method for the preparation of the nanomaterials with well-controlled shapes and sizes. In this study, size-and shape controlled synthesis of silver nanomaterials were performed through the reduction of Ag-S inorganic/organic hybrid polymers. The Ag-SR polymers were reduced using electron beam irradiation. Besides, SERS-active Ag film could be fabricated on substrate by the electron beam irradiation of silver salt/thiol layers. The silver nanomaterials and thin film were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV/Vis spectroscopy.
