Currently, research has been rapidly progressed on the development of bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells. New p-type conjugated polymers for polymer solar cells are usually designed to afford low band-gaps with appropriate HOMO and LUMO levels. Phenothiazine is an electron-donating monomer with a good hole transporting property. Isoindigo is a symmetrical planner electron-accepting monomer consisting of two strong electron-withdrawing indoline-2-one units. In this study, poly[N-decyl-3,7-phenothiazine-alt-N,N-di(2-ethyldodecy)-6,6-isoindigo] (PPTII) was successfully synthesized. The optical band gap energy of PPTII was 1.75 eV. The HOMO and LUMO levels were -5.33 eV and -3.21 eV, respectively. The performance of the PPTII-based solar cells will be presented in detail. |
