The act on the establishment of safe laboratory environment(Laboratory Safety Act) was enacted in 2005 for the purpose of preventing laboratory accidents and protecting researchers. Nevertheless, the need for laboratory safety management is increasing as more than 200 continuous laboratory accidents occur every year. In particular, chemical laboratories require high safety management as they handle chemicals and toxic gases. Therefore, the Laboratory Safety Act introduced various safety management policies to chemical laboratories such as precise safety diagnosis and laboratory installation and operation standards. This presentation will introduce specific major safety standards and future policy directions. |
