Synthesis and Electroluminescent Properties of α-Pyridoin – Cerium Complex |

Recent developments in the field of luminescence have been interesting. The lanthanide metals play an important role in making luminescent materials. The ligand of α-pyridoin can form complexes with various transition or lanthanide metals. The CeIII (α-pyridoin) complex was synthesized and its electroluminescent (EL) properties were determined. The structure of the complex was elucidated by FT-IR, FT-NMR, UV-Vis, XPS, and the molecular weight was estimated by GPC. The photoluminenscence (PL) was measured from ethanol solution of the cerium complex (P-Ce). The P-Ce complex exhibited bright blue green luminescence at wavelength λexc=476nm. The EL devices were fabricated by spin coating and its EL properties were investigated. |
