제목 Transport behavior of short and medium chain carboxylic acids in PVDF membrane contactor: Effects of extractant-filling, feed pH, membrane pore
초록    Interests in recovery of medium chain carboxylic acids from organic waste were highly increasing because medium chain carboxylic acids are high-value chemicals and needed lower separation cost to produce them than short chain carboxylic acids. Especially, membrane contactor recently became an interest because of its economic and environmental advantages.  
  In this study, virgin and extractant-filling membrane contactors were used and behaviors of carboxylic acids were evaluated depending on some factors, such as extractants-filling, feed pH and membrane pore size. And each mass flux was correlated with log Kow and log Kh values of carboxylic acids. The results exhibited that mass transfer of medium chain carboxylic acids was higher in extractant-filling PVDF membrane than virgin PVDF membrane up to 3.4 times in case of hexanoic acids, and relative selectivity of medium chain carboxylic acids was also increased up to 13.1 times.
