Preparation of Amine Bridged Periodic Mesoporous Organosilicas and Applications to the pH-sensitive Nanovalves for Drug Delivery |

Amine bridged periodic mesoporous organosilicas(PMO) have been successfully prepared using bis(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl)amine and tetraethoxy orthosilicate as co-precursors. The PMOs possess mesopores of 2-4 nm with the overall particle size of 50~100 nm. The particle sizes are suitable for using drug delivery system. From zeta potential data, the bridged amine PMO particles have positive charge due to bridged amine moiety in frameworks. Various properties of these PMOs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), BET, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), elemental analysis, and etc. To investigate nanovalve performances of the PMOs, we attached N-phenylaminomethyltriethoxysilane(PhAMTES) to the PMO surface and loaded Hoechst into the pore and capped with β-cyclodextrin. The amine bridged PMO nanovalves successfully released Hoechst at pH 6 in water. |
