Metal Oxide Nanoparticle Decorated Carbon Nanofibers for NO2 Gas Sensor |

Chemical sensing is one of the most promising areas for applying nanotechnology. Detection and measurement of NO2 gas are very important for both the environment and human health. This report describes a facile method to fabricate NO2 gas sensor with hybrid carbon nanofibers (CNFs) decorated with WO3 nanoparticles on the surface using a single nozzle co-electrospinning. To reduce the contact resistance of transducer, spin coating was used to provide a uniform arrangement of CNFs. The hybrid CNF sensor exhibited high sensitivity with minimum detectable level of 1 ppm for NO2 gas at room temperature. Furthermore, the recovery time greatly accelerated with UV irradiation. This study demonstrates effective way to fabricate highly efficient room temperature operating chemical sensor. |
