제목 | Self-propulsion of Janus clay microbead for clean-up of Cs contamination |
초록 | The unintended release of radiocesium from nuclear facilities can results in contamination of the aquatic environment. The 2:1 clay minerals are able to adsorb cationic substances because of the intrinsic anionic nature of the clay interlayers, and the illite possesses Cs selective adsorption sites such as the frayed edge site. In this presentation, we report the self-propelled micromotor adsorbent prepared from illite microbeads and their potential applications for removal of radiocesium from liquid waste. The illite microbead was prepared by spray-drying, followed by low-temperature calcination of the microbead. The Janus clay microbead was prepared by coating the half-surfaces of the illite microbead with Pt catalyst. The Janus clay microbead was self-propelled in aqueous solution by catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxides at Pt coated half-surfaces. The self-propelled Janus illite microbead showed a superior radiocesium adsorption ability compared to the pristine illite. |
