Plastic electronics based on π-conjugated organic semiconductors/conductors are emerging as a highly specialized technology enabling a significant development for cost-effective, flexible and transparent electronic applications. However, π-conjugated polymers (π-CPs) exhibit a high degree of conformational disorder with weak interchain interaction, and therefore the charge transport of π-CPs are severely limited by the presence of amorphous portions between the ordered crystalline regions. Thus, the formation of periodic lattice structure in π-CPs has been desired to realize greater π-electron wavefunction overlap for excellent charge transport. Here we demonstrate a molecular level ordering method with chemical cross-linker to rearrange π-CPs for the formation of lattice structure. Typical polymer semiconductor and/or conducting polymers like P3HT, PEDOT, respectively, could be rearranged to form periodic lattice structure using chemical cross-linkers. |
