제목 Tannin-based nanoformulation for hydrophobic drug delivery
초록 Tannins are polyphenolic compounds ubiquitously found in plants that possess antioxidant and anticancer activity. Among them, a representative hydrolysable tannin, Tannic acid (TA), has attracted attention as a nanocarrier for therapeutics due to their amphiphilic nature; it shows strong affinity to biomacromolecules via multivalent hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic therapeutics via π–π stacking. Herein, we synthesized a nanoformulation of a hydrophobic anticancer drug, paclitaxel (PTX), and a hydrophilic biopolymer poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) via TA as a molecular glue. The synthesized nanoparticles showed superior colloidal stability in aqueous medium up to 7 days with a size of ~150 nm.
